MED-GIAHS 2ND INTERREGIONAL SEMINAR & STUDY VISITS

07/10/2024

The European Territorial Cooperation project ‘MED GIAHS: Network of GIAHS sites to promote sustainable agricultural tourism’, financed with EU ERDF funds, started in January 2024 and its goal was to help several territories recognised by FAO as GIAHS in Europe and North Africa develop a Sustainable Tourism Strategy linked to the GIAHS experience, and create a network of GIAHS sites in the Mediterranean.

The project is coordinated at European level by Consejería de Agricultura, Pesca, Agua y Desarrollo Rural de la Junta de Andalucía (Regional Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of Andalusia), and its partnership is composed of 6 partners that are already GIAHS recognised by FAO, from Spain and Italy, as well as other agricultural production systems that are candidates for FAO GIAHS recognition from Greece, Bulgaria and Montenegro. The other GIAHS from Spain and North African countries are also among the project partners.

In the framework of the activities foreseen in this project, the 2nd Steering Committee of the project, the 2nd Interregional Seminar and the 1st MED GIAHS meeting will be held in Valencia on 22, 23 and 24 October. These activities are being organised by the Consell de l’Horta de València as the host partner.
